Explicit School Improvement Agenda 2020

At Birkdale State School our goal is to ensure all students are operating above the National Benchmarks for Literacy and Numeracy. Our emphasis will be on providing the best opportunities to achieve the intended curriculum. We will achieve this through:

Focus on targeted teaching of ACARA English Units P-6

Explicitly  focussing on Reading, Writing and Speaking and Listening through the embedding of ACARA English Unit Activities

Data driven  student differentiation for Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening, with a focus on improvement in the Upper 2 Bands

Data determined, differentiated, individual student goals, strategies and targets for student improvement through Bump It Up Walls and Proficiency Scales

Building staff capacity through Collegial Engagement/Peer Coaching approach; enhancing intentional collaboration, alignment and precision.

Cooperatively embed the Birkdale State School Pedagogical Framework, ensuring that every student has high quality, evidence based practices, focussed on success for every student.

Foster Intentional Collaboration and the sharing of professional practice and expertise between staff through embedding the Pedagogical Framework in all learning areas

Ensure individual teacher PD Plans are focussed on capability development and student improvement needs

Build teacher capacity in pedagogical practice that enables teachers to unite in a common purpose and teach with greater precision

Set explicit school wide improvement targets. Communicate these to staff, students and the wider community

Continued Improvement in Whole School Conditions Rubric for AAP and NPDL

Bump It Up Walls/ Proficiency Scales and associated student goal setting are a feature of every classroom

Differentiation and Inclusion is a feature of every teachers planning

Embed with precision and alignment the systematic delivery of the Australian Curriculum (ACARA) by the end of 2020, leading to differentiated teaching and learning and consistent student improvement

Identify differentiation in the planning cycle through data driven individual strategies and targets for student improvement in all curriculum areas

Develop and maintain a whole school curriculum, assessment and reporting plan with 3 levels of planning following P-12 CARF.

Use the School Improvement Hierarchy to improve student achievement and to build teacher capability

Develop consistency in horizontal and vertical moderation practices to enhance student learning outcomes

ACARA 2020 TARGETS

85% of students to receive a C Standard in English, Maths and Science P-6

Differentiated learning is a feature of all unit planning

100% of staff assessing and reporting in the 8 ACARA KLA's

Closing the Gap strategies and targets are identified and enacted for individual indigenous students.
